India’s Finance Minister sees early resolution of spectrum vacation by defence forces
TT Correspondent |  New Delhi |  04 Nov 2009

India’s Finance Minister, Pranab Mukherjee expressed hope that the Ministry of Defence and the DoT will arrive at a consensus for the release of 3G spectrum as required by the country’s defence forces for commercial use.

"I am aware of the fact that there are some areas of differences in regard to release of spectrum but in the last few days a MoU was reached between MoD and MoC, and I do hope that decision will be taken as per the letter and spirit of the MoU," said the FM.

The minister who is heading an empowered Group of Ministers to take the final decisions over 3G policy-related decisions said that the DoT has been directed by the Group of ministers over certain policy decisions and the DoT will act as per the instructions.
