Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, has convened industry leaders to discuss broadband as driving force for economic and social development on February 25 during Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona, Spain.
Huawei said that in just a few short years, the digital revolution has dramatically changed the way we connect with family and friends, the way we work, and the way we inform and entertain ourselves. In our rapidly emerging digital society virtually every institution is being transformed, from science to health care to education and beyond. Efficient broadband infrastructure is critical in order for this transformation process to be successful.
Yu Quan, CSO of Huawei wireless network business unit, who will participate as a panelist at the forum said, “Huawei’s Broader Way Forum events are an opportunity to meet with our industry peers to discuss the critical infrastructure that is broadband, particularly the opportunities to grow our global digital society as well as the risks to our economies if we do not take appropriate action.”
Specific topics to be explored will include the social and economic benefits of the digital society and of broadband penetration; the role of government to maximize the impact of broadband and the digital society; the benefits to industry and the investments required by both public and private institutions to sustain and reap the rewards of the broadband digital society revolution.
Ryan Ding, CEO of Huawei Carrier Network Business Group, and Dr Hamadoun I. Touré, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), will give keynote speeches at the event and share their thoughts and insights on how broadband drives the digital society.
