Alcatel-Lucent to transform Chungwha Telecom’s network in Taiwan
TT Correspondent |  |  05 Jun 2012

Alcatel-Lucent is to transform the network of Chunghwa Telecom (CHT), Taiwan’s leading communications service provider, to dramatically boost its speed, performance and efficiency in serving residential, business and mobile broadband customers.

Demand in Taiwan for high speed broadband access, IPTV services, mobile video and gaming is expanding dramatically, and to meet this demand, CHT is deploying Multi-Service Edge Router (MSER) network from Alcatel-Lucent. Based on the state of the art IP/MPLS routing technology, the MSER network will support all of CHT’s fixed and mobile broadband network to simplify network structure, reduce the cost of operations and build up a high service quality and reliability network.

Thanks to intelligence within the Alcatel-Lucent routers, CHT will be able to deliver enhanced residential video and business services, such as virtual private networks, with the support of capabilities such as video optimization and ‘Application Assurance', which can guarantee that services are delivered with certain specified quality levels.

Chunghwa Telecom said, “Alcatel-Lucent’s service routers offer an ideal way for us to prepare our network for the rapid growth in demand we are seeing for high-bandwidth services like video, both at home and on the move. Our new Multi Service Edge Routing network is designed with tomorrow in mind Alcatel-Lucent’s demonstrated commitment to continuously evolving to offer the latest capabilities has made them an ideal partner for this project.”
