15.1 mn new mobile subscriber additions in August

India witnessed an increase of 15.1 million new subscriber additions for the mobile services with the total mobile subscriber base at the end of August 2009 standing at 456.7 million.

Wireline subscriber base declined by 0.09 million to dip to 37.33 million. The wireline density is at 3.19.

India’s total telecom services subscriber base is inching towards the 500 million mark with 494.07 million.

Broadband subscriber base increased from 6.80 in July to 6.98 million at the end of August.
