Research in Motion (RIM) that offers Blackberry handsets and services announced its Q2 financial results posting revenues of $4.62 billion at 31% rise. Net profit increased to $ 796.7 million or $ 1.46 per share as compared to 83 cents a year ago.
Shipments increased by 45% to 12.1 million. In the preceding quarter, RIM had recorded 11.2 million shipments.
Subscriber base increased 56% to over 50 million. In Q2 2010, 4.5 million new subscribers were added to its fold.
"RIM set another new record in the quarter by shipping over 12 million BlackBerry smartphones," RIM co-chief executive Jim Balsillie said in a statement,
"We expect a continuation of this momentum in the third quarter as we extend the rollout of new products including the BlackBerry Torch into additional markets and benefit from heavy promotional activities and increasing customer demand as we head into the holiday buying season," Balsillie said.
The company now expects Q3 2010 revenues to be in the range of 5.30 billion dollars and 5.55 billion. |
