Ericsson, Nokia Siemens Networks , Alcatel-Lucent criticised for quitting TEMA

Reacting to the four global vendors’ decision to quit the Telecom Equipment Manufacturing Association (TEMA), the industry body has said that this is an unfortunate development and the move signals a negative approach of these vendors towards meeting domestic manufacturing objectives.

The foreign vendors, Ericsson AB, Nokia Siemens Networks, Alcatel-Lucent in a letter  have asked TEMA to remove their logo from its website as their membership have been terminated by the body.

TEMA''s Director General Ashok K Aggarwal said that basic issue for these vendors leaving it is not termination of membership due to non-clearance of annual membership fee but a letter to senior government officials.

"We have noticed that TEMA is coming out with media statements and writing letters to the senior management officials on subjects like manufacturing and green for which we have been neither consulted nor have their statements on actual facts," they said.

TEMA said that it does not need an approval of its members to speak on its visionary statement, which incidentally is already approved by the members.
