RCom adds 2.5 million wireless customers in May

Anil Ambani-led Reliance Communications, which offers GSM and CDMA mobile services, today said it added 2.5 million new mobile users in May.
A company statement said Reliance Communications achieved the "highest new wireless customer additions in May, 2011".

India has already surpassed US as the second-largest wireless market, just behind China.

As per telecom regulator Trai''s monthly telecom subscription report, the total number of telecom subscribers in the country grew to 861.48 million at April-end from 846.32 million at the end of March, 2011.

Net additions of new subscribers by telecom service providers in April stood at 15.17 million, compared to 20.07 in March. Reliance Communications added 2.5 million new users in May.

RCom has already got GSM spectrum for 14 circles under the dual technology policy of the government.
