According to latest data released by telecom Authority of India (TRAI) the rate of addition in mobile subscribers in urban pockets has slowed down. According to the experts the reason behind this are the intense competition, and the saturation that has set in.
“The markets in the urban pockets have saturated”, said a telecom expert.
The news figures show that from about 23 million new subscribers in November 2010, the rate of addition came down to 13 million in May.
If comparison is made between the urban and rural India in terms of teledensity, cities in May have had a teledensity of 154%, compared to 34 % in rural India. Going by this every city resident had more than one mobile telephone connection.
