Vodafone empowers women in rural Haryana with Samridhi
TT Correspondent |  |  28 May 2014

Vodafone India, on Tuesday extended its Project Samridhi in Karnal, Haryana. Under the project, Vodafone has appointed women, from rural Haryana, to encourage them to become entrepreneurs and earn a living by selling recharge coupons. In this way, Vodafone will enable and transform the women retailers into brand ambassadors who will reach out to audiences in the deeper geographies of the state.

As part of the project, Vodafone India has trained 100 women, from different parts of Haryana to sell E-top Ups and prepaid recharges. These women have been trained on the basics of the business and equipped with an E-top SIM card. As an additional support mechanism, Vodafone women retailers will be given extra commission for their first three months and 50% secondary recharge value on their first e-top. Vodafone will also help the retailers gain visibility and sell more, by giving them visible brand signages.

“We believe that economic empowerment of women is a building block in social development. Vodafone’s Samridhi project is an integral part of Vodafone’s objective to encourage women empowerment in Haryana; thereby making a difference to the lives of the communities we engage with. Our successful stint at Narnaul has reaped great results and we are determined to extend it to other parts of Haryana. We are confident that our sustained efforts will see the creation of a robust and successful chain of confident women retailers across the rural demography of Haryana”, said Tejinder Khurana, Business Head– Haryana, Vodafone India.
