Liberty Global deploys Amdocs MVNO solution to support expansion into quad-play
TT Correspondent |  |  05 Dec 2014

Amdocs, on Thursday announced that the world’s largest international cable company, Liberty Global, has deployed Amdocs Compact Convergence, Amdocs’ solution for Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs), to support the operator’s launch of mobile services in three European countries. Delivered by Amdocs under a managed services agreement, Liberty Global’s deployment supports the company’s expansion into quad-play, adding mobile services to its existing broadband, fixed line and Pay-TV offerings.

With Hungary, Switzerland and Netherlands already live, Liberty Global has launched three national mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) on the single, multi-tenant platform, at low cost and with reduced time to market. Each MVNO can manage its own mobile service offerings; define product portfolio and tariffs while taking advantage of a common platform to speed delivery. Amdocs has integrated this MVNO platform with existing Amdocs business support systems (BSS) and interfaced to third-party BSS and customer-facing systems to provide Liberty Global with a single view of the customer and enable a single bill across all lines of business.

“As Liberty Global looks to introduce its quad-play offerings across Europe, we have chosen a flexible and proven managed solution that provides convergent, real-time charging and service delivery capabilities from an experienced partner. The Amdocs solution supports our goal of bringing quad-play to our markets whilst giving each country operation the ability to create their own go to market approach, within their own brand,” said Dean Walters Chief Information Officer at Liberty Global.

“With Amdocs managing day-to-day operations and future development of the MVNOs’ platform, Liberty Global will be able to focus on its customers and new marketing initiatives to drive business growth. Amdocs has been delivering managed services to service providers around the world for 30 years, and today supports more than 500 million subscribers in a managed services model,” said Rebecca Prudhomme, vice president for product and solutions marketing at Amdocs.
