TT Correspondent |  |  09 Mar 2015

Huawei along with Baidu, the world's leading integrated Internet service provider, formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of cooperation between Huawei's innovative solution "Service Anchor" and "Baidu map".

With the joint development of technical innovation, product development, and marketing promotion, Huawei and Baidu plan to accelerate the development of mobile internet applications based on indoor scenarios. To further explore the new business models for launching ICT convergence solutions across the industry achieving a win-win strategic cooperation.

"We are helping operators upgrade in-building solutions with digitalization which can bring three significant benefits to the operator. First, enhancing the indoor MBB experience; second, helping the operator with smart deployment and easier operational efficiency of in-building solutions. Third and most important for the operator is enabling the telecom network to open up additional pipeline capacity and resources for generating more mobile applications and new business models,” said Peter Zhou, President of Huawei’s Small Cell Product Line.

"The cooperation with Huawei will not only serve to further enhance Baidu Map in indoor coverage ratio and user experience in indoor scenarios, but also helpful for probing indoor navigation, indoor precise marketing and other new businesses, and also will be very beneficial to Baidu’s strategy in the mobile Internet industry. In the near future, Small Cell will be the "Indoor GPS". Huawei’s Service Anchor has a strong capability to open network resources, one of the tools essential for developing and exploring new business models and applications for use in indoor scenarios,” said Guangfu Su, Director of Baidu LBS Domain.

The cooperation between Huawei and Baidu will help operators to bring "content into the pipe" and "pipe for new business" based on a win-win development model. For best user experience, the content and application should be managed by efficiently utilizing the network resources. Operators are looking for new business opportunities to share the network resources to benefit from developing enterprise market as a new market space. The convergence between network and applications will continue to enhance the user experience. This will generate new business streams and will redefine a new business model of cross-industry cooperation.

As the leading solutions provider in the communications industry, Huawei has end- to-end mobile broadband network products and solutions, as well as wide cooperation with several global operators and extensive network deployment experience. Service Anchor is based on open platform for carriers to open their network resources and capabilities for third party applications.

Baidu, one of the most recognizable Internet companies in China, has successfully transformed itself into a mobile business. It provides one of the world’s leading mapping services named "Baidu Map". Baidu is committed to promoting services such as indoor navigation, location search, map based precision indoor advertisement and marketing.
