Facebook at annual developer conference F8 announced a business to consumer (B2C) targeted initiative dubbed Facebook Messenger for Businesses. Bloomberg reports that WhatsApp, the most widely used messaging service worldwide might use some functions currently being tested on Facebook's Messenger - most notably, business-to-consumer interaction that's paid for by businesses.
Bloomberg reports that, Facebook CFO David Wehner present at a JPMorgan technology conference in Boston said, “We think that enabling that B2C messaging has good business potential for us.” He adds, “As we learn those things, I think there’s going to be opportunities to bring some of those things to WhatsApp, but that’s more long-term than the near-term.”
Details about the WhatsApp's business-to-consumer interaction are limited. No information has been provided as to how Facebook will make money as of now.
As of now, WhatsApp has been available without ads over messaging service.
