Nokia on Wednesday launched the Nokia 808 PureView, a smartphone with a 41 megapixels camera in an event in India at a price of Rs 33,899.
The Nokia PureView 808 smartphone features a single core 1.3 GHz mobile processor with 512 MB RAM. The 41 megapixel camera in Nokia 808 incorporates a new technology called PureView which is jointly developed by Nokia and Carl Zeiss. Bearing the f/2.8 aperture, the 41 megapixel camera will come with Xenon flash and promises 7728x5354 resolution images in 16:9 formats.
Ever since it was showcased at the Mobile World Congress this year, the device has attracted a lot of attention. The PureView 808 is based on Nokia's new PureView Pro imaging technology that makes use of an interpolation technique to genereate crystal clear 5 megapixel images.
It lets users shoot photos at different resolutions, say 2 megapixel, 3 megapixel, 5 megapixel, high resolution 8 megapixel or full resolution. The maximum resolution that can be shot with the 808 PureView is 38 megapixels in 4:3 aspect ratio and 34 megapixels in 16:9 mode.
Pureview 808 supports Dolby surround sound. Nokia says that Dolby enhances the phone's multimedia capabilities and makes it an ideal device to listen to music or watch movies on the go.
