Juniper Networks, the industry leader in network innovation, has said that Ricoh Company Ltd. has adopted Juniper’s routing, switching and security products to build a common IT infrastructure across the company including in its data centers in Japan and the US.
By leveraging Juniper Networks SRX Series Services Gateways, MX Series 3D Universal Edge Routers, and EX Series Ethernet switches all running the Juniper Networks Junos operating system, Ricoh’s new network will reduce development costs and shorten development cycles.
Each Ricoh business unit used to have its own optimized IT silo. Now, with the deployment of a common Cloud IT infrastructure, they are supported through Infrastructure-as-a-Service and Platform-as-a-Service with a focus on business optimization.
With the SRX3600 and SRX3400 Services Gateways deployed at the perimeter and in the network, Ricoh is assured of powerful security services on an extremely flexible platform. The scalability of the SRX Series gateways will enable Ricoh to simply add modules without making major configuration changes when they need to support more users and traffic.
Ricoh has deployed multiple 10 Gbps EX4500 Ethernet switches interconnected with EX4200 Ethernet switches in a Virtual Chassis configuration, forming a versatile core providing both 1GbE and 10GbE connectivity. Juniper’s Virtual Chassis technology enables up to 10 interconnected switches to operate as a single, logical device, reducing the number of physical devices to manage.
This “virtualized” core is then connected to multiple EX4200 access switches also deployed in a Virtual Chassis configuration so that multiple racks of virtual servers and storage can be managed as a single virtual switch.
Highly resilient high-performance MX803D Universal Edge routers handle connectivity across the Ricoh corporate WAN.
The common Junos operating system across all Juniper platforms allows Ricoh to easily manage the entire network and security infrastructure with a consistent interface, reducing management overhead and costs. The Junos OS enables Ricoh to quickly and easily construct Cloud platforms in other areas outside Japan and the U.S. in response to business requirements. |
