GTL aims increase tower count to 50,000 by 2013

Stand-alone telecom infrastructure service provider, GTL Infra aims to increase its telecom tower count to 50,000 in the next three years, reports the PTI.

"At present, we have 11,500 towers and we have acquired 17,500 towers from Aircel, which will make it 33,000 telecom towers for the combined entity by June this year. We plan to have a portfolio of 50,000 towers by fiscal 2013," GTL senior VP Vikas Arora told PTI.

Telecom towers in urban areas will be increased from 1,350 to 9,400 and the company expects the tenancy ratio to grow to 2.3 by 2013.
