TT Correspondent |  |  06 Oct 2012

Five telecom operators-Airtel, Reliance, Idea, Vodafone and TATA are under the Madhya Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) scanner for not following norms while issuing SIM cards, according to reports.

In a recent development ATS in a letter to the Telecom Enforcement, Resource and Monitoring (TERM) Cell, Bhopal, has sought legal actions against these operators.

The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) in July 2012 had issued notices to five telecom companies in the state for not following due procedure while issuing SIM cards.

The notice came after some SIM cards were allegedly procured by five members of Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) and Indian Mujahideen (IM) on fake identities.

The members of the terror outfits were arrested in June 2011 from Bhopal and Jabalpur.
