 Domestic as well as foreign players interesting in entering the Indian mobile sector through the Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) route, will have to pay Rs 85 crore as the licence fee for a pan-India offering.
The Telecom Commission has set a pre-defined fee subject to a ceiling and floor price for each service area. The fee comes out to be 10 percent of the amount the UASL players have to pay.
MVNO licence for metros and ‘A’ category circles will be Rs 5 crore, for ‘B’ category Rs 3 crore and for category ‘C’ it will be Rs 1 crore.
The MVNOs will also have to pay spectrum charges and a bank guarantee equivalent to 5 percent of the amount paid by mobile network operators. |
