Hold on allocation of 2G spectrum: Finance Ministry to DoT
TT Correspondent |  New Delhi |  18 Aug 2009

The Finance Ministry has asked the DoT to put on hold further allocation of 2G spectrum till the time a final decision on implementing the recommendations of Spectrum Review Committee was taken.

“It may be ensured that no further allocations of spectrum are made by DoT, until a final view had been taken on the recommendations of the report,” said Finance Secretary Ashok Chawla in a letter to Telecom Secretary Siddharth Behura.

The Finance Secretary also called for an immediate conclusion of the 3G spectrum auctioning as the 2G spectrum price is supposed to be derived from the 3G prices as recommended by the Spectrum Report.
