The CBI on Wednesday questioned Swan Telecom and DB Realty promoter Shahid Balwa in connection with the taped conversation between its prosecutor AK Singh and Unitech managing director Sanjay Chandra in 2G case. He may be summoned again.

While both Singh and Chandra have denied having such a conversation between them, CBI asked Balwa about his links with Singh and if he was in touch with him during the 2G trial.

Yesterday the CBI summoned Shahid Balwa in 2G case. The agency is probing the conversation between its prosecutor A K Singh and another accused Unitech managing director Sanjay Chandra in the case. Balwa’s name is believed to have figured in conversation.

The CBI believes that corporate rivalry is behind this recording and prima facie the audio tape is genuine.

The CBI on the basis of the report from Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) about the previous CD is of the view that conversations have not been tampered.

Last week the CBI had have sacked its prosecutor AK Singh for allegedly being in collusion with people belonging to the company accused in the case.

He has been removed on the basis of the audio tapes which have Singh and Sanjay Chandra, Unitech's Managing Director discussing the legal strategy in the case. Singh in the tapes is allegedly advising Chandra.
