TT Correspondent |  |  14 Apr 2012

The top officials of major telcos Bharti Airtel and Vodafone have been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate for alleged irregularities in the grant of additional 2G spectrum during NDA regime. This is an extension of 2G spectrum allocation case that the ED is probing, reports PTI.

Former telecom secretary Shyamal Ghosh, then deputy director general J R Gupta and few telecom companies have been named by the Directorate for alleged irregularities in the grant of additional 2G spectrum during 2001-03, according to PTI sources.

The Enforcement Directorate has now summoned senior officials of Vodafone and Bharti Airtel for questioning next week, they said.

They said the notice does not specify any particular officer by name and has been issued to managing directors of the companies or their authorised representatives.

When contacted, by PTI Vodafone spokesperson refused to comment on the matter while Bharti Airtel officials were not immediately available for comments.
