Telecom Regularoty Authority of India on Friday made it mandatory for telecom operators to share data usage related information with their subscribers on regular basis. Every operator must issue notices in form of USSD or SMS about data usage after every ten megabytes of data used by the consumer, TRAI said in its Telecom Consumers Protection (Eighth Amendment) Regulations, 2015.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) also ordered the operators to intimate customers when the data balance available in the account reaches 500MB, 100MB and 10MB.
Trai also said, the consumer also shall be informed about the details of tariff applicable after exhausting the data limit, when the data limit reaches 90% or the data balance available in the account reaches 10MB.
Telecom operators will also need to alert their subscribers on international roaming, cautioning them to deactivate data service if they does not intend to use data services.
TRAI ordered the service providers to implement the same by November 1 this year. |
