Telcos seeks uniform tower policy to tackle call drop issues
TT Correspondent |  |  18 Aug 2015

The government on Monday asked the telecom companies to resolve the call drop issues to optimise allocation of resources at the earliest and government also rejected the operators claim to connect with tower policy.

Telecom secretary Rakesh Garg told reporters here, “Tower policy has no role for such call drop issues. There is no linkage between call drops and tower policy. There was no policy earlier but call drops did not happen. They have to find a solution within the existing norms”.

The TSPs said over 10,000 cell sites have been made non-operational across major cities, due to various reasons.

Telecom operators also said that it is wrong to assume that call drops happen due to low investments by operators. They demanded uniform guidelines or uniform national tower policy.

So that more number of towers can be installed in government buildings and residential colonies as well and can slove the issue of call drop at the earliest.
