Uninor on Monday has said that will participate in the fresh auction of 2G spectrum, if India allows only the 2008 participants to bid. This is one of the options open to the company to protect its investments in India, according to Sigve Brekke, CEO, Uninor. 

"In principle we will go for auction but I am not saying that whether we will win everything ... So, the option of exit cannot be ruled out," he said while addressing the media. Uninor is a 67 per cent subsidiary of Norway’s Telenor.

He also said that the Norwegian government is keeping an eye on the developments and will discuss the issue with the Indian government.

Soon after the Supreme Court gave its verdict on last Thursday cancelling all the 122 spectrum allotted in 2008, there were speculations in a section of media that Telenor will quit India which the company later denied.

The apex court in its order had also asked the government to seek views from the stakeholder for the fresh bid for 2G spectrum.
