TDSAT rejects petition against cancellation of TTSL and TTML licences
TT Correspondent |  |  20 Aug 2012

Telecom tribunal TDSAT has rejected petitions of COAI and Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea requesting it direct DoT to modify or amend the order it had issued on February 15 cancelling 122 licences on the Supreme Court verdict in the 2G spectrum allocation case.

COAI and these operators had sought a direction to government to cancel the licence and spectrum of Tata group companies TTSL and TTML.

"We are of the opinion that at present this petition should not be entertained. This petition is dismissed accordingly, subject, however, to the leave granted to the petitioner herein to approach this tribunal if and when fresh cause of action arises," said the TDSAT.

Their contention is that the apex court had ordered cancellation of all licences issued in 2008 by then Telecom Minister A Raja and that total of 141 licences need to be cancelled, including that of Tata Tele Services Ltd (TTSL) and Tata Tele Service Maharashtra (TTML).
