Hold your mobile away from body while talking, Govt issues guidelines
TT Correspondent |  |  01 Sep 2012

With stringent mobile radiation standards coming in effect from tomorrow, the government has issued guidelines for consumers on Mobile handset usage.

The users have been advised to hold the cell phone away from body to the extent possible and use a headset (wired or Bluetooth) to keep the handset away from your head.

The user should not press the phone handset against the head. Radio Frequency (RF) energy is inversely proportional to the square of the distance from the source being very close increases energy absorption much more.

The users have also been advised to limit the length of mobile calls and use text as compared to voice wherever possible.

The users should put the cell phone on speaker mode. When the phone is on, the user should not carry it in chest/breast or pants pocket. When a mobile phone is on, it automatically transmits at high power every one or two minutes to check (poll) the network.

bluetooth headsets may not help stop radiation. using speaker or wired headset is better option.
