Panel submits its report to DoT; many path breaking recommendations included
 |  |  14 May 2009

The panel appointed by DoT to review the various issues concerning spectrum and related processes submitted its report to the DoT.

Among the various recommendations stated in the report, the panel, as reported earlier, has called for auctioning of all spectrum beyond the start-up spectrum. It also wants operators who have already been granted additional spectrum to pay a one-time fee.

The panel has also supported spectrum trading in such a way that it results in revenue generation to the government. Operators will have to pay as much as Rs 570 crore per MHz to the Government as spectrum transfer fee.
