Rajiv Suri is likely to be the next CEO of Nokia
TT Correspondent |  |  25 Apr 2014

Nokia, after the sale of its phone business to Microsoft is ready to focus on its networks equipment business. Nokia, on Tuesday will name Rajeev Suri as its next CEO and outline its new strategy with a focus on its networks equipment business, said a newspaper on Friday.

Citing unnamed sources, daily Helsingin Sanomat said Nokia would also on Tuesday, along with its first-quarter results, announce how much cash it would pay out to shareholders.

India-born Rajeev Suri has done Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics and Telecommunications) from Mangalore University. Rajiv Suri is 46 years old and is currently the CEO of Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN). Since 2009 he is with NSN. Suri is currently based in Espoo, Finland, but has worked in India with companies like ICL and RBG Group.

Nokia, earlier this week said that it expected the deal with Microsoft to close on Friday after the companies had agreed to modify certain deal conditions. The Nokia-Microsoft deal of worth 5.4 billion euro ($7.5 billion) was announced in September.

The newspaper also said Nokia would over time abandon the name NSN. Nokia was not immediately available for comment.
