Vodafone Idea appoints Krishnan Ramachandran as additional director

Vodafone Idea has appointed Krishnan Ramachandran as an additional director, qualifying as an independent director on the Board of the Company for a period of 3 years.

“...this is to inform that based on the recommendation of the Nomination & Remuneration Committee, the Board of Directors of the Company have appointed Krishnan Ramachandran as an Additional Director, qualifying as an Independent Director on the Board of the Company for a period of 3 years with effect from 27th December, 2018,” said the telco in a regulatory filing on Thursday.

Ramachandran (69) is an alumnus of BITS Pilani and IIM Calcutta . He started his career with Tata Administrative Service (TAS) and has spent major part of his career with Philips Electronics and TAS.

Vodafone Idea said that the new director has “experience across wide range of assignments cutting across functions and industries”.

He was appointed as the first Indian vice chairman and MD for Philips Electronics Indian operations in 1998 and was given additional responsibility in 2006 as CEO for the Indian sub-continent.

He is currently an Independent Director on the Board of few companies and also advises and works with the leadership team of several companies, said the operator.
