Huawei to launch 100G network in Russia
TT Correspondent |  |  29 Oct 2011

Huawei has said that is gearing up to launch its 100G networks in Russia. The company announced that it has finalised agreement with several Russian operators, including Transtelecom, Rostelecom, VimpelCom and Megafon to test and demonstrate the 2000 kilometres ultra-long haul 100G coherent wavelength division multiplexing system at the company’s 100G testing centre in Russia.

Huawei has been able to demonstrate that its solution is able to transmit services at 100 gigabits a second services in combination with the existing 10 and 40 gigabit a second services over a regeneration-free transmission distance exceeding 2000 kilometres

Using this technology, 100 Gbps signals are more adaptable to fibre transmission. As such, the bandwidth capacity can reach as high as 8 Tbps over a single fibre and the regeneration-free transmission distance is extended.

The testing fully demonstrated the enhanced service performance and stability of Huawei's 100G coherent systems. Huawei was able to show that its service could transmit 100 Gbps services in combination with existing 10 Gbps and 40 Gbps services over a regeneration-free transmission distance of more than 2000 km.
