Dialogic Inc., the Network Fuel company has announced the industry’s first session border controller with native software transcoding.
With BorderNet Release 3.2, Dialogic is fully integrating its visionary BorderNet Virtualized SBC and the BorderNet 4000 SBC with the multimedia processing power of software transcoding.
In particular, the BorderNet Virtualized SBC becomes the industry’s first carrier class software session border controller with built-in transcoding that can operate in a virtualized environment on commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) servers, offering service providers a leap forward in implementing their Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) strategy.
The newest editions of the BorderNet Virtualized SBC and BorderNet 4000 SBC are being supercharged with state-of-the-art software transcoding honed over billions of sessions in Dialogic’s award-winning PowerMedia technology.
This software transcoding will enable carriers to quickly benefit from richer multimedia sessions with HD Voice, to bridge nearly any type of session in pursuit of any-to-any networking and to efficiently drive scale as they benefit from software-driven on-demand infrastructure. This Virtualized transcoding will be highly attractive to service providers seeking to shift functionality to the cloud and to leverage their investment in data center server virtualization technology rather than relying on dedicated, proprietary hardware for their network infrastructure.
“Service providers are catching on to the investment return from driving functionality to data centers and virtualized environments instead of to proprietary purpose-built platforms. It’s in their interest to tap into the scalability, flexibility and cost savings that come with NFV, and Dialogic's native software transcoding capabilities are a critical part of that pursuit,” said Jim Machi, vice president of product management for Dialogic. |
