ZTE launches the smart 4-core OTT set-top box B760H that runs on Android 4.4 KitKat
TT Correspondent |  |  25 Feb 2015

ZTE Corporation, on Tuesday announced the global launch of its smart 4-core OTT set-top box (STB) 760H.

The B760H STB is configured with a 4-core processor, and runs on Android 4.4. It supports the “IPTV+OTT” function and service, which can provide multiple functions and applications such as multi-screen interaction, family monitoring, 3D games and shopping to generate an entertaining experience for the entire family.

“ZTE has launched an innovative product, getting in on the ground floor of dual-module STB intelligence. Despite the B760H’s intelligent functions, it is not complicated to use. Users can establish the cable/wireless connection between the STB and their TV by using the remote control. In addition, their mobile phone or tablet can be used as a second remote control so that the user can operate the screen jilting function and push their audio/video programs to the TV simply by sliding his/her finger towards the screen,” said Fang Hui, VP of ZTE.

The B760H supports 2.4G/5G Wi-Fi connection, allowing it to take advantage of 5G Wi-Fi connections to facilitate a smoother user experience. At present the majority of devices, including mobile devices, handsets, tablets, notebooks, and hand-held games consoles run on the 2.4GHz frequency band of Wi-Fi connections. This causes a lot of competition and interference between devices, affecting the application quality. However, this interference can be reduced through connecting to 5G Wi-Fi which is seldom used, significantly improving the signal quality.

In comparison to existing traditional HD network STBs, the B760H supports hard coding visual communication, which possesses several advantages in terms of HD technology. The hard coding reduces the requirement for computing which significantly lessens the burden on the CPU. When the HD image is processed the hard coding enables HD visual communication.

The B760H has a built-in Bluetooth 4.0 module so that the STB possesses full compatibility with Bluetooth technology. In the future, more IOT devices will use Bluetooth 4.0 which will establish Bluetooth as an important carrier of the smart family service.
