Cataleya launches vOrchid One virtualisation for intelligent networks
Ashish Sharma |  New Delhi |  09 Mar 2017

Cataleya has launched a virtualised software version of its award-winning next-generation session border controller (SBC) Orchid One. vOrchid One provides all of the functionality of the hardware version of Orchid One, combining Big Data, real-time network analytics and Machine Learning to guarantee network performance on IP.

vOrchid One enables service providers to deliver up to 2,250 concurrent sessions per core with a Quality of Service (QoS) analysis engine that allows the system to detect and predict voice performance. It offers full WebRTC to SIP interoperability as well as support for Voice Over WiFi (VoWiFi). vOrchid One’s integrated intelligent firewall and built-in fraud management services enables service providers to protect against Voice fraud.

“We tried to deliver all of the benefits of the hardware version of Orchid One but in a virtualised form. That means service providers of all sizes can benefit from intelligent network technology. We believe there should be no barriers to offering guaranteed performance on IP networks and enabling service providers to accelerate their growth on IP,” said Andreas Hipp, Chairman and CEO at Cataleya.

vOrchid One delivers:

• Reduced Total Cost of Ownership – Service providers of all sizes can deploy intelligent networks. Smaller operators that see cost as a barrier to deploying new infrastructure can deploy vOrchid One
• Rapid Deployment – vOrchid One delivers an immediate competitive advantage with faster monetisation of intelligent networks and the ability to deliver higher QoS and Quality of Experience (QoE) for customers
• High Scalability and Flexibility – vOrchid One works with vCenter for VMware and Openstack for KVM and supports multiple API standards and protocols. It can manage 9,000 simultaneous SIP sessions per instance using KVM with SR-IOV and 5,000 with VMware

“vOrchid One is part of our long-term Network Function Virtualisation (NFV) strategy that will include innovations in Unified Communications and disruptive business models. We’re ready to transform the SBC market and push intelligent networking on new places. This really is a new phase of innovation for Cataleya,” said Rama Sulikunte, Chief Technology Officer at Cataleya.

vOrchid One delivers end-to-end visibility into network performance from transport to application layers. Service providers benefit from comprehensive visibility via near real time and trending analytics reporting – session, service, network, system, application, traffic type, media quality and end-to-end SLAs.
