Huawei announced that it has bagged a contract from T-Mobile Czech Republic to replace all current base station (BTS) and base station controllers (BSC) of the service provider resulting in significant savings to T-Mobile.
Huawei said the contract involves replacement of 4500 BTS and 150 BSC.
"You may ask why to replace the functioning equipment? Some of the BTS have been working for more than 12 years. Even if they have been continuously improved, the development is far away", explains Heinz Schmid, Executive Vice-President technology T-Mobile Czech Republic, adding: "New equipment brings significantly higher capacity and enable the operator to offer to customers new services - e.g. high-speed data - in the whole network."
"We are proud to further our partnership with T-Mobile and to contribute to the modernization of the network across the Czech Republic," added Mr. Ling Haifeng, Vice President Huawei European Region. "With our advanced technologies and fast service response times we are committed to help T-Mobile Czech extend its lead in the dynamic and fast-growing mobile broadband market."
Huawei says the test carried out was successful and now pilot project has started with the overall replacement expected to be completed in one and half years. |
