NSN India today claimed a new GSM network rollout contract from new entrant Uninor, the JV between Unitech Wireless and Norway’s Telenor. This contract follows the contract bagged by NSN India last week to deploy GPRS network for Uninor across pan-India.

The contract for rollout of 2G-based network includes Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh circles. The contract requires NSN to operate and maintain the network under its managed services offerings.

NSN will make use of its Flexi BTS platform, which the company claims is the industry’s smallest and most energy-efficient mobile base station. NSN will also offers range of services such as Network Implementation to build the network, Consulting and Systems Integration to provide network design and ensure smooth interworking with Unitech Wireless’ existing infrastructure, Care for fault management and Managed Services for efficient network management.

Uninor has earlier awarded contracts to Chinese major, Huawei Technologies for Karnataka, Tamil Nadu & Andhra Pradesh and Alcatel-Lucent for Kerala & Orissa circles.

Uninor has licences to operate in 22 circles of India.
