Ericsson announced bagging a fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) deal from fixed broadband service provider, Radius Infratel as the service provider aims to target operators, real estate companies as well as property management companies.
On the completion of deal, Radius will be able to serve over half million (600,000) subscribers for fixed broadband services. It will be able to offer services such as parking management, access control, automated lighting, and security services through a single integrated infrastructure. Additionally services such as IPTV can also be delivered through the network.
As part of the deal, Ericsson will make use of its EDA 1500 GPON (Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Networks) system and passive fiber solutions.

Gowton Achaibar, head of Region India, Ericsson, says, “This agreement confirms the great potential for GPON / FTTx technology in India. We expect that by 2015 more than two million Indian homes and businesses will be connected to high speed broadband using GPON technology.” |
