Mobile email and messaging services used in risky situations in US

A study, triggered by a recent accident in USA where two trains collided resulting in heavy casualties numbering 25 and the cause of which was attributed to a train engineer using his mobile messaging services, has revealed that mobile subscriber sin USA have resorted to using mobile email services in the most dangerous of situations.

 

A survey commissioned by Austin-based Neverfall Inc and conducted by Osterman Research highlights that 77 % have used messaging services on mobile email devices while driving a car, 41 % have used it while skiing, on horseback or riding a bicycle.

 

Additionally, 11 % admitted to using mobile email or messaging services in a romantic situation and 79 % claimed to have used the services in bathroom. Eighteen per cent have used one during a wedding, 16 per cent during a funeral or memorial service and 37 per cent during a graduation, said the survey.

 

The study further supports the research findings of American College of Emergency Medicine, which cautioned mobile subscribers in USA against use of messaging services while walking, skating, riding a bicycle or driving.
