Huawei bags two awards at 2012 LTE World Summit (LTE WS) in Barcelona
TT Correspondent |  |  24 May 2012

Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, has won two awards at the 2012 LTE World Summit (LTE WS) in Barcelona.

The awards were in the categories of "Most Significant Development for Commercial LTE Networks" and "Best LTE Core Network Element." Huawei has won award at the LTE WS for three consecutive years, demonstrating industry recognition of Huawei's continued contributions to the development of LTE development and its leading status in the LTE industry.

According to a GSA report released in May 2012 ("Evolution to LTE"), 72 commercial LTE networks have been launched globally. Huawei deployed 34 of them, the most of any other vendor. Deployed in Europe, Asia, Oceania, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East, Huawei's LTE solutions have been chosen by 37 of the world's top 50 operators.

Huawei's SingleRAN was the first industry solution to allow for a sole cabinet to support the coexistence and interoperability of GSM/UMTS/LTE networks for true convergence, flexible sharing of resources and smooth migration to LTE. Huawei's packet core suite of solutions includes signaling optimization to support 64 fold signaling loads and video optimization for safe and reliable LTE/EPC networks. Built upon accumulated wireless and IP technologies, Huawei's SingleEPC allows operator to build convergent and efficient EPC networks, enhance LTE business opportunities and accelerate business model innovation.

Xu Weizhong, President of Packet Core Network for Huawei's Wireless Network Business Unit, said: "Huawei is committed to building user centric LTE/EPC networks. We will continue to work closely with operators around the world, introduce innovative solutions for mobile broadband core networks, and accelerate LTE/EPC commercialization to help operators with traffic operation and achieve business innovation."
