BSNL provides leased circuits connectivity for multi-nodal waterways terminals
TT Correspondent |  |  16 Nov 2018

On Friday, state-run telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) said that it provided leased circuits connectivity at the recently inaugurated multi-modal waterways terminals on the Ganga river.

BSNL was asked to provide telecom interconnectivity between different ports for smooth operations in a time bound manner, the company said in a statement.

The telco provided leased circuits connectivity (river information service) at different locations en-route.

The project aims to develop the stretch of the river between Varanasi and Haldia (main port) for navigation of large vessels.

When completed, it would provide inland waterways as an economical means of transportation, especially for cargo movement.

The project was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 12 at an event held in Varanasi.
