The Information & Communication Technologies Authority (ICTA) of the island of Mauritius has directed telephone operators in the country to revise the call rates for the mobile and international segments, following the floatation of a telecommunication directive on April 30.
Under the directive issued, ICTA has prescribed for an 87 rupee (Mauritian) reduction in the Interconnection Usage Charge (IUC) for fixed and mobile networks, paid by operators for each minute, with effect from Wednesday.
The Authority has further asked the operators to submit proposals to revise their retail tariffs after the subsequent reduction in the IUC and in the course of failure to submit proposals; the authority rests with itself the right to ‘intervene in the interest of the general public.’ |
