TT Correspondent |  |  14 Jul 2012

The Department of Telecom (DoT) on Friday is believed to have taken up the issue of roll-out obligations with major telcos. The telecom department has also sought their views on the issue.

Those attended the meeting were- Vodafone India Resident Director T V Ramachandran, representatives from Airtel, Tata Teleservices and Reliance Communications Uninor Managing Director Sigve Brekke, and MTS India President and CEO Vsevolod Rozanov.

The ministerial panel is of the view that operators should cover 20 per cent of block level headquarters by the end of second year and 30 per cent by third year, a source told PTI.

The newly reconstituted Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) under the chairmanship of the Home Minister P Chidambaram, in its last meeting failed to take a decision of spectrum pricing and on network roll-out obligations.
