Vodafone launches new long term validity plan for prepaid users to counter Reliance Jio

India’s telecom operator Vodafone has recently come up with long term validity plans of Rs 279 and Rs 189 for its prepaid users, in a bid to compete against Mukesh Ambani-driven Reliance Jio.

As part of the Rs 189 plan, the company is offering both voice and data benefits, however, even as there is unlimited calling being offered, the telco has put up a daily FUP limit in the plan. The users can makes calls of up to 250 minutes daily and 1000 minutes per week and will be charged 1 paisa per second on exhausting the daily limit.

As part of the plan, users will get 2GB of 3G/4G data. The plan does not offer any messaging benefits to the users in this plan. The plan has a validity of 56 days.

Reliance Jio is offering a similar plan at Rs 198 as part of which it offers 56GB data with unlimited calling and 100 SMS per day. The plan has a validity of 28 days.

Vodafone’s new Rs 279 plan comes with unlimited local and STD calling and SMS and comes with the validity of 84 days. On data benefits front, the plan offers a total of 4GB 3G/4G data.

The other long-term plans of Vodafone come with the validity of 84 days, however at a starting price of Rs 399. On the other hand, the Rs 279 plan offers the validity of almost three months.
