Sony Ericsson interested in acquiring Spice Mobile, says report
TT Correspondent |  New Delhi |  11 Jul 2008

Sony Ericsson is reportedly interested in acquiring BK Modi''s 64 percent stake in Spice Mobile for which the latter has demanded a price of about Rs.80-Rs.100 per share.

The Economic Times report says that it was Spice Mobile which approached Sony Ericsson for a wide-ranging collaboration and partnership. But the talks eventually progressed to acquisition since the parties felt that this would suit them better.

The development if it comes into reality will result in Sony Ericsson attaining second position in the Indian handset market which is presently held by Samsung.
