While human resources departments of all the operators are finding it difficult to attract top level talent, what is turning out to be a bigger challenge is on how to retain this top level talent. And contrary to popular perception that financial compensation may prove to be a carrot, the operators are realizing that it is much more than the financial compensation to convince these professionals to stay on with the company.
For instance, a report on Economic Times reveals that India’s leading private telecom service provider, Bharti Airtel has witnessed senior management exodus in the last two months.
The report says that the main reason for the exit of the professionals lies in the organization failing to meet the aspirations of the executives. Entry of new players in the telecom sector is expected to end up adding fuel to the fire. Executives who find motivation in taking up challenges may find it worthwhile to associate themselves in establishing new operators right from scratch. Also other upcoming sectors like financial services, insurance and retail are also attracting such talent.
The report reveals that Jayant Khosla, Head of Bharti Mobility (West) left the company to head Future Groups’ Insurance business. Some other senior executives who have left the company include Carol Borghesi, Head Customer Services, Rajiv Sharma, CEO Airtel Business Services, Harish Dua, Chief Compliance & Audit, Rajiv Jaitley, CEO Punjab circle, Gopal Vittal, Director Marketing and Communications. |
