PSUs are turning the heat on private operators and seem to be in the lookout to gain a head start at the slightest available opportunity. MTNL especially has already started to be aggreesive on the convergent services like IPTV and Mobile TV and is now all set to launch mobile TV services on April 1.
Initially the services will offer 12 channels for Rs 99 per month and include channels like Zoom, NDTV and CNBC.
The company is also upbeat on its IPTV services foray and claims to have around 3000 customers. “We’re slashing prices of the set-top box from Rs 8,000 to around Rs 3,500 over the next six months to encourage others,” said Peeyush Agarwal.
BSNL too has plans to launch radio on mobile and mobile TV services and plans to adopt the franchisee model for its IPTV services foray.
