TT Bureau |  |  14 Mar 2008

Tata Teleservices Ltd, India’s leading telecom service provider, today launched i-Help Emergency Services targeted to provide help service to subscribers during emergencies.

I-Help Emergency is the first service of its kind and claims to help subscribers in times of emergency by enabling users to contact their family and friends instantly. The service is said to be designed in such a way as to provide anytime, anywhere connectivity requirements in times of emergency.

“With the introduction of ‘i-Help Emergency Services’, Tata Indicom has initiated an exclusive concept in Customer Care. The launch reaffirms our commitment to bring innovative telecom solutions and make a valuable contribution towards the larger goal of public welfare. I-Help Emergency Services will have a series of different services to provide emergency help & service to our subscribers,” stated Mr. Anil Sardana, MD, Tata Teleservices Limited on the launch of the service.

Tata will be providing the service free of cost to all pre-paid and post-paid subscribers and the service would be made available in 11 regional languages. The service can be accessed by registering the three preferred numbers to be contacted in an emergency by either calling the Tata Indicom customer care department or by logging on to the company’s website.

According to the company, the  caller has to dial *44 during emergency and the system immediately calls and sends an SMS to the three numbers, letting them aware that the subscriber is in need of help. In case if any of the registered numbers are out of reach or switched off, the system would call at least four times to ensure that the number is reached. Both, the call and the SMS are sent instantly to the three numbers leaving no role for schedulers.

“The service will be of helpful especially for people working in night shifts in BPO, working women etc. We have been aggressively introducing innovative services for our customer and many more similar announcements from Tata Indicom in the near future.  With similar pioneering initiatives, we are confident to grow VAS current contribution of 11% to the company’s revenues to 15% within a year,” commented Mr. Pankaj Sethi, President, VAS, Tata Teleservices.
