SBI to begin mobile banking service within a month
TT Bureau |  |  15 Apr 2008

State Bank of India (SBI) announced its plans to kick off mobile banking service within a month.

The bank has reportedly finalized a domestic firm as its partner to roll out the product to its nearly 1 crore pan-India customers. However the identity of the firm is not disclosed yet.

Mobile banking services offered to the customers initially will include money transfer, account status enquiry and cheque book order, while other services like bill payments and buying movie and travel tickets will come at later stage.

SBI, after starting this new service will join majors like Standard Chartered Bank, Barclays, Union Bank and YES Bank, who are already offering such services.
