Alcatel-Lucent, Sasktel launch online health monitoring service

Alcatel-Lucent and Saskatchewan Telecommunications Holding Corporation (Sasktel), a Canadian telecom firm has come up with a new service called LifeStat remote monitoring and health management.

 

Through this service health professionals or patients can record and view blood pressure and blood glucose level no matter wherever they are. The service is connected to the Internet through cell phone. To access the service the cell phone users must support Bluetooth and Java downloads. The monthly fee to avail this service is $50.

 

As for now, the technology is only for diabetes or hypertension patients but very soon the company plans to extend its range. 

 

The tie-up has invested $7 million for this project.
