139-Rail Sampark service claims daily registration of 5 lakh calls in first year

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd (IRCTC) marked the first anniversary of its “139 - Rail Sampark”, the Indian Railway enquiry services, boasting of a daily registration of over 5 lakhs calls from across the country.

 

Delivered by Bharat BPO, the service handles enquiries related arrival, departure, schedules of trains plying between two stations, PNR and reservation of berth status, fare enquiry, availability of Tatkal accommodation, journey planning, concession and cancellation rules, refund rules and trains between stations.

 

Commenting on the successful completion of the service, Managing Director, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd (IRCTC), Nalin Shinghal said, “It is a service that is revolution in the making, with IRCTC''s internet ticketing services already providing to be a run away success "139 - Rail Sampark" will change the way a customer interacts with the Railways.”
