After ushering a revolution in the telecom sector in the country, stalwart Sam Pitroda in capacity as Chairperson of the National Knowledge Commission is on a mission to bring about a similar revolution in the environment space in India as he announced launch of a portal with an aim to provide latest information on environment and related developments. The portal has been built in conjunction with the Centre for Science and Environment.

“This is a unique effort as it will provide collaboration between government and civil society. It is our effort to put government information in the public domain and to build dynamic and networked knowledge-based societies” said Sam Pitroda.

The portal, www.indiaenvironmentportal.org.in will enable general public to scrutinize government documents related to the sector apart from giving information on various institutions and educational centres related to environment sector. Currently the portal claims to have more than 300,000 articles, documents and research papers.
