Education through mobile phones can be effective, says Nottingham University study
TT Bureau |  |  13 Sep 2008

A Nottingham University (NU) study reveals that mobile phones particularly smart phones can be effective medium for imparting education. The study among other things points out students enjoy the medium as it gives them a chance to express themselves more effectively without the need of constantly being supervised.

"Pupils were often surprised at the thought that mobile phones could be used for learning. After their hands-on experience, almost all pupils said they had enjoyed the project and felt more motivated," said Elizabeth Hartnell-Young who conducted the study along with other colleagues at NU.

The study was spread out over a time period of nine months involving 331 pupils in Cambridgeshire, West Berkshire and Nottingham school and involving students in the age group of 14-16 years.
